Individual Volunteer Application 2008
4th
Annual West of Western Culinary Festival
March 15
– 16,
2008 12 – 5pm
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for West
of Western Culinary
Festival!
Volunteers are a vital part of
the Festival. The difference
between a good volunteer
program and a great one is that the volunteers have a wonderful time
while they are working for the event.
We find that most of our volunteers prefer to be rotated to different
positions, rather than being in one place during their shift, and do
our best to give them variety.
Our volunteers understand our mission of
creating awareness of Arizona
Chefs, Arizona food, and our culinary scene, and work toward those
goals by volunteering at the event.
At the West of Western Culinary Festival, our volunteers play
a huge part in our success!

The Festival welcomes this procedure that contributes to the security
of our volunteers and our
guests.
Arrivals
You must check in at
Participant Registration before any shift you work. Please
allow 30 minutes to
register, get your wristband and lanyard, find your Team Leader in your
assigned area, and become familiar with the Festival layout.
Orientation
Volunteers must attend one of
the training meetings held during the week before the Festival, where
you will receive the
Festival Guidelines and information. New procedures are
implemented each year - you need to know the current information for
the Festival to run smoothly, and your volunteer experience enjoyable.
Orientation
& Training dates TBA – mandatory, conducted by
Phoenix Art Museum and WoW staff.
Festival Attire
Wear comfortable and appropriate
clothing. Please
wear a white shirt with collar or a blouse, dark pants (preferred),
khakis, or tan pants.
Jeans are not approved. If the weather necessitates
warmer clothing, please wear a business style jacket of a plain
color. Wear clothing with pockets as what you bring
must be carried with you.
Note: Friday Production volunteers may wear jeans, colored
shirts.
Meals and Breaks
You will receive a meal break each shift, which will be coordinated by
your Team
Leader. Alcoholic beverages may not be consumed before or
during a volunteer's shift. Please eat well before you arrive, as meals
may not be timely due to rush periods when the Festival must be fully
staffed.
Alternate-Day Pass
You will receive a complimentary Food
& Wine Pass (age permitting) admission for the
alternate day of the Festival.
If your volunteered time is for the morning shift,
you may choose to receive a same day Pass instead. If this is
your choice, or if you are working two days, we will try to place you
in a position where you may finish your shift by 2pm. The
Volunteer Manager must know by March 10
when all volunteers wish to use the pass to the Festival.
Those under age 21 will receive a Food Only Pass.
